At Stacuity, we are constantly refining and growing our platform capabilities in response to customer requirements. Last month we added five new eSIM features designed to optimise costs, streamline lifecycle management, and enhance the user experience for both IoT and travel eSIM deployments.
Advanced QoS (Throttling) Control
Precision is everything when managing network performance. Our new Quality of Service (QoS) Control acts as a dynamic policy engine, allowing you to set sophisticated speed and traffic prioritisation rules.
How it Works: You can define specific bandwidth limits, such as maximum throughput or rate limiting, at the tenant, customer, or individual bundle level. These rules are enforced dynamically during a session based on real-time usage thresholds.
The Benefit: This is perfect for offering “hybrid” plans, for example, a 10GB high-speed bundle that automatically throttles to a lower speed once the cap is hit, ensuring the user stays connected without unexpected overages.
IP Whitelisting Without an Active Bundle
The IP whitelisting feature ensures that critical destinations remain accessible even when a subscriber has zero balance or no active data plan.
How it Works: You can configure a list of approved IP addresses that bypass standard charging and balance checks. While general internet traffic remains blocked, these specific destinations stay “always on”.
The Benefit: For IoT deployments, a device that has run out of credit can still reach its central management server for diagnostics or top-ups. Similarly, consumer users can still access a billing portal to purchase a new bundle.
Smart IMSI Recycling
Efficiency is at the heart of our lifecycle management. We’ve introduced eSIM de-provisioning, a feature that allows you to recycle IMSIs seamlessly.
How it Works: When a device is retired, the existing endpoint is terminated and detached from the network. The IMSI is then released back into your available pool to be assigned to a brand-new eSIM profile.
The Benefit: For large-scale IoT deployments like logistics trackers, this significantly reduces SIM inventory costs and ensures you aren’t wasting valuable identifiers.
Bundle Pooling
Managing individual data caps for hundreds of devices can be logistically complex. Bundle Pooling simplifies this by allowing groups of endpoints to share a common data quota.
How it Works: You can assign a shared bundle to a specific group, such as a department or a specific use case. All devices in that group draw from the same pool of data.
The Benefit: This prevents over-provisioning. If one “field engineer” device uses more data than usual, it is offset by a “low-usage” device in the same group, maximising the value of your data investment.
Unlimited Auto-Renewing Subscriptions
For deployments that need to stay online indefinitely, we’ve introduced unlimited subscriptions.
How it Works: Rather than setting a fixed number of renewals, these bundles are configured to roll over automatically at the end of each validity period (e.g., every month). The renewal continues indefinitely until you manually choose to stop it.
The Benefit: This provides a “set and forget” solution for standard consumer mobile plans or mission-critical IoT sensors that require continuous, uninterrupted connectivity without manual intervention.
