A: “I started my career as a draughtsman for an energy company, back when drawings were done with pen and ink on acetate film. When the digital age arrived, I moved into mapping with AutoCAD and gradually found myself drawn into IT. I ended up in the company’s IT department, where I rolled out a (then cutting-edge) Windows-based EPoS system across their island-wide chain of white goods stores, and supported all their desktop PCs.
After a decade there, I moved to an IT Services company as an IT Trainer and from there moved to another provider to head up their training division. This introduced me to a network of Isle of Man Government contacts where I established strong relationships across every department. I then took over the contract management of their main account which supplied and maintained every PC, server and peripheral in Government. I continued to look after the training division in parallel.
When the iGaming sector started to gather pace, I joined a new iGaming software company in Douglas as an IT engineer. The company provided software and infrastructure to some of the world’s largest online casinos. Within a year I was managing my own team, supporting and deploying software to hundreds of globally hosted SQL database systems. Over the next 12 years, I managed a range of support and deployment teams as the industry evolved through automation, containerisation, and emerging AI technologies.”
