We are delighted to welcome Kieran Ord as our new Head of Networks.
With a strong background in mobile telecoms and IoT solution design, Kieran will bring the strategic oversight and technical expertise needed to strengthen our network foundations and support the delivery of our programmable mobile solutions.
Q: Tell us about your career to date
A: “I have always had a strong interest in technology and networking, which led me to apply for an apprenticeship role at JT, formerly Jersey Telecom. I began my career in the Mobility team, where I supported the day‑to‑day operations of the network. At that time, JT’s focus was primarily on local retail subscribers, and the company operated only 2G and 3G networks. This role gave me a solid grounding in network operations and customer‑focused service delivery.
After several years, I progressed into a senior engineering position. In this role, I contributed to a number of major projects, including a full mobile network swap, a BSS/OSS replacement, and the design, growth, and maintenance of JT’s machine‑to‑machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. These initiatives were pivotal in expanding JT’s capabilities and preparing the business for its eventual sale to Velos.
My final position at JT was as a Network Design Architect. In this role, I was responsible for contributing to another network swap, this time towards a fully virtualised Ericsson core. I produced both high‑level and low‑level designs for new and existing solutions, and provided subject matter expertise to senior engineers across the organisation. This position allowed me to combine technical depth with strategic oversight, ensuring that JT’s network architecture was robust, scalable, and future‑ready.”
Q: Why did you choose to join Stacuity?
A: “During my time at JT, I supported the integration of Stacuity into the JT core as an IMSI donation customer. I was immediately fascinated by the concept of network programmability — building a mobile network from the ground up is no small achievement. As I explored Stacuity further, I was drawn to the company’s technical innovation, agility in bringing solutions to market, and the dynamic, start‑up culture that fosters creativity and rapid growth. This role was a great step up for me, one I felt I have been ready for for some time, and whilst it’s a step-up, being a smaller company, it allows me to also stay on-the-tools and continue doing what I enjoy about my work.“
Q: What will you be doing at Stacuity and what impact do you hope to have?
A: “In my role as Head of Networks, I will bring together my background in mobile telecoms and packet core engineering to strengthen Stacuity’s network foundations. My focus will be on cementing the excellent work already achieved, gaining a deep understanding of the current design and architecture, and ensuring the network is both resilient and redundant. This will allow engineers to carry out maintenance and upgrades with confidence that services will remain uninterrupted. Bringing in some of the processes and procedures to help Stacuity grow with the network at the forefront.”
Q: What are you most looking forward to?
A: “In honesty, getting my hands dirty – I love being on the tools and discovering new networks, understanding the current topology, and collaboratively working on making the best networks and products possible. Getting involved in the design and supporting the implementation of new innovative solutions for our customers, and lastly, to have fun and enjoy the experience.“
