Celebrating Success: Jeremy Crookshank Promoted to Senior Software Developer

We are thrilled to share that Jeremy Crookshank has recently been promoted to Senior Software Developer. Since joining us, Jeremy has proven himself to be a brilliant problem solver and diligent member of our technical team. From foundational protocol work to full-stack troubleshooting, his work has heavily influenced the stability and capability of our platform.

To mark his well-deserved milestone, we sat down with Jeremy to chat about his journey so far, his favourite projects, and what he’s most looking forward to as he embraces his new role.

Which project or achievement since joining the team are you most proud of?

“I’ve worked on so many exciting projects, so it is hard to pick, but I would say I am most proud of the SMPP/SMS project. SMPP allows you to send SMS via the SMPP protocol.

The was my first project which required me to get into the nitty gritty of the telco specifications to ensure the SMS we send via SMPP adheres to the many specs & is encoded correctly; otherwise, you won’t receive a legible SMS, so it’s quite important!

There were a lot of fundamentals learnt in this project which I have been able to transfer to other projects too.”

Which project or achievement since joining the team are you most proud of?

What’s your favourite thing about working at Stacuity?

“My favourite thing about Stacuity is having visibility across the whole stack. If I’m unsure about something, I can dig into the code and see exactly what’s happening in different components, which is a great way to deepen my understanding of how the system behaves in different scenarios.

But as cliché as it sounds, it’s also the team. We’re a great, friendly bunch, and because we all have various strengths in different technical areas, you can be sure at least one person knows the answer whenever you have a question. Having that balance of technical independence and a supportive team makes working here really rewarding.”

What is one thing about your new role that you’re most excited for?

“I’m excited to take on more responsibility, not just in development, but also in helping other engineers grow. I’m looking forward to supporting newer team members and sharing my experience to help others level up through mentoring and collaboration.”
